I bought a map at an antique show last weekend (american, 1857). I haven't gotten around to framing it yet, but I did scan it:
Click on it to see bigger, because IT IS AWESOME. Especially the specificity in the huge pink heathen swaths: pagan heathens and feticist heathens and buddhist heathens, oh my! Really - I've found my new obsession, and it is maps about religion, the older and crazier the better. Even the quickest of online searches on the new obsession turned up this: the 1885 "Map of Beerdom," plotting (346) saloons and (19) churches in a NYC ward. Pagans.
